PHP, CGI and JavaScript
Most of today's web interactivity is accomplished by scripts being run either on the web server or your web browser. They accomplish everything from simple things like the coloured scroll bar on the right of this page (visible with Internet Explorer only) and mouse over effects right up to extremely complicated thing like running the web pages of the online banking of the major banks.

PHP, working in concert with a MySQL database can be used to pull information out of that database and organize and present it on a web page for innumerable uses. Again examples are the best way to give one an idea of the power of PHP and MySQL.
A Quick Search on a book review site allows you to search for a book or author you are searching for. The display page will list all books or authors that match your query allowing you quick access to all the content on the website.
A sophisticated Shopping Cart which was adapted to the needs of Paper Choice and Chiapas Amber Creations and has all of their products available for purchase online.
The entire Southern Costa Rica Rain Forest Travel site is based upon information in the database.
This site utilizes basic and advanced aspects of PHP, tracking the clients area of interest and displaying advertisements which best reflect the area they are most interested in. Each page is generated displaying important information and company's relating to the subject of the page.
Advertisers are able to add and edit their advertisements, and users are able to browse through the site to plan their trip to Costa Rica
Through contact forms users can contact
company's advertising on the site to get more information on reservation availability and other important information.
As well, users can purchase products using the online form or sign up for an informative newsletter.
This site is an excellent example of the many uses of databases and forms.
